“Do It Again” - Glenn
Rivera ReStructure Mix – Paulette Reaves
Paulette Reaves is a soul-funk singer who began
her recording career in 1976. Her single “Do It Again” from 1981 and
produced by Willie Clarke (Betty Wright, Jimmy “Bo” Horne, and Funky
Nassau) is one of the big funk-disco tracks that maintained the feel of an
underground club recording. It has the arrangements that made soul music
and funk a piece of the disco era. Paulette performs here in a teasing and
convincing enough to make that move. One of the big early 80s tracks I can
remember luring the fans of soul and that Miami sound onto the dance
floors.
I have taken the 12” version of “Do It Again” and reedited a ReStructure
Mix adding only stripped pieces of the production to parts of this
tribute. The vocal is the key here so a repeat is added to give Ms. Reaves
her stage once again.
